Robotic arm counts and fills without
cross-contamination.

Thousands of pharmacies rely on the SP 200 Robotic Prescription
Dispensing System to improve patient safety.

At Clinic Pharmacy, Dee-Anna Cook, Pharmacy Manager, and Frank Duhn, R.Ph., Owner, have the philosophy that pharmacy is more than dispensing and counting. Frank says, “We know our customers and we make that connection with them to fill in the blanks when the doctors are rushed. I know the doctors and we work together—so when they don’t have time, I can advise and speak directly to the patients about medication therapy.”

Dee-Anna says that when the pharmacy hit 250 prescriptions per day they started looking at automation. “We had all these customers but we didn’t have enough of Frank’s time to talk to all of them. Also, Frank has three young daughters at home and can’t be working 10 hours a day, six days a week.”

Using SP Central Workflow and the SP 200 robot, prescription volume is up to 400 prescriptions per day. Frank says, “Since 50% or more of our prescriptions are filled through the robot, I have the time to get out from behind the counter and connect with our customers.

“I tell other pharmacists that with the current margins on prescriptions, the only way to change the profit equation is to pump up volume and keep payroll as low as possible. That’s what ScriptPro will do for your pharmacy.”

Dee-Anna adds that the robot is a constant in the pharmacy; it has survived changes in staff over the years. “The learning curve for new staff is very short and the current staff can’t imagine working without it.”
